The National Student Chess League Championship was included into the program of the RSSU International Cup, Moscow Open for the third time. The competition was held in course of nine days in both individual and team events and finished on February 4.
Students of the Ural State Mining University (Ekaterinburg) won gold medals in the team event – David Parvyan and Anna Styazhkina. Together they scored 15 of possible 18 points. The team of the Lomonosov Moscow State University (Dmitriy Aleksandrovskiy, Svetlana Tishova) with 12 points won silver medals. Students of the Samara State Aerospace University (Alexey Mokshanov, Darya Makarova) also scored 12 points and won bronze medals, tie-breaks didn’t allow them to win silver medals.
In individual event David Parvyan (Ural State Mining University, Ekaterinburg) with the result of 8,5 of possible 9 points celebrated a convincing victory. Vladimir Zakhartsov (National University of Science and Technology “MISiS”, Moscow), Alexey Mokshanov (Samara State Aerospace University, Samara) and Vladimir Fotin (Perm National Research Polytechnic University, Perm) remained one and a half point behind the leader. Due to the tie-breaks Zakhartsov won a silver medal, and Mokshanov – a bronze medal.
Anna Styazhkina (Ural State Mining University, Ekaterinburg) was the first to finish in the women’s individual event. She scored 6,5 of possible 9 points. Svetlana Tishova (Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow) with 6 points won a silver medal. Asya Arutyunova (Yaroslavl State Medical Academy, Yaroslavl) outran Darya Gorovenko (RSSU-1, Moscow) and Olga Grigoryeva (Saratov State Agrarian University, Samara) according to tie-breaks.
Shavarsh Badalyan (Higher School of Economics, Moscow) with 6,5 points celebrated a victory in the category of chess players with the ranking below 2,200 points. Svetlana Tishova (Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow), Rupesh Jaiswal (RSSU-3, Moscow) and Alexander Pischasov (National University of Science and Technology “MISiS”, Moscow) scored half a point less. Tie-breaks were more favorable to Tishova, who won the silver. Jaiswal received a bronze medal.
In the group of female students with the ranking below 1,800 points the victory belongs to Alena Burmistrova (North-Eastern Federal University, Yakutsk) with 5 points. Tatiana Kuzmina (Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Dolgoprudny) with 4,5 points took the second place, and Daria Frolova (Samara State Technical University-1, Samara) occupies the third place.
It should be noted that World Vice-Champion Sergey Karyakin took part in the Award Ceremony of the winners and medalists.
